Sweet and smooth and ready to go

I found some wonderful dried figs at the at the grocery the other day and rushed home to make up something featuring the great sweets.
I grew up eating figs fresh from the tree. It never occurred to me to eat them dried. But once I discovered that I could enjoy them any time of year anywhere I happened to be, I tried to treat myself to a pack of the fruits a couple of times a year.
Figs are high in natural and simple sugars, minerals and fiber. They contain good levels of potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and manganese.
Dried figs contain an impressive 250 mg of calcium per 100 g of figs In contrast, whole milk has less than half of the amount of  calcium (only 118 mg per 100 g of milk).
Mix the figs with cheese and you'll get a sweet treat that is both good and healthy. Here's a way to make it portable.
Fig nd Ricotta Wraps
2 cups finely chopped dried figs
2 naval oranges, finely chopped or ground
1 cup sweet red wine
1 cup honey
2 cinnamon sticks
6 tortillas

  • Spread the ricotta cheese on the tortillas.
  • Top the cheese with the fig spread.
  • Roll the wraps tightly, cut the ends off.
  • Slice into four even pieces.
