Make your protein tasty

Tofu is known for being drab, bland and boring.
But the cool thing about it is that it is like a chameleon...it takes on the flavors of the things around it.
In talking to some dietary experts in recent days, I figure that my protien intake has been not quite up to snuff.  Proteins are used in the body to keep cells healthy. (Of course, that's just a basic description, but it is essential to all aspects of our health.)
Because I have been trying to lose weight, I cut back on things like peanut butter - my main source of protein.
I have kept up beans and other sources,  but I need something more.
Tofu is a great source.
Aw, man...how dull.
But, with some great flavors to make a good marinade and sauce, that boring white stuff can turn into a flavorful, golden treat that is delicious by itself and fantastic when it is combined with other things. This is easy to do and you will want to make it often so you won't have to worry about a lack of protein.
Gingered Tofu

2 pounds of firm tofu, cubed into bite sized pieces
  • Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in the garlic and the ginger, and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add the tofu to the pan with the soy sauce, and stir to coat.
  • Cover, and continue cooking for about a half an hour.
  • Squeeze lime juice over the cooked tofu and enjoy.
