A vintage "candy" recipe updated

Steve's dad sometimes talks about the peanut butter stuffed prunes his mother used to make for him when he was a kid. It was a candy-sweet treat as far as he was concerned.
The idea of prunes and peanut butter never particularly appealed to me, though I like both those ingredients on their own. It just kind of sounded like a sticky mess.
One day, when I was flipping through the yellowed pages of a vintage 1950s Fanny Farmer Cookbook, I found the recipe that his mother must have used to make these nearly-healthy candies for her little boy. I whipped up a batch, which he told me were nearly as good as the ones he remembered.
The recipe I found called for stewing the prunes until they were not-quite-soft and then removing the pit. The hole was then to be filled with peanut butter. Prune juice could be drizzled over the candies and whipped cream was an optional garnish as well.
It just sounded too messy and, besides, I like prunes in the dried state...like giant raisins. So, while the recipe might have been what he was looking for, I decided to update it for myself.
I haven't tried these out on Steve's dad, but I like the way they taste and they are a lot less messy to eat. This is a much more on-the-go food.
Peanut Butter and Prune Rolls
3 tortillas
3 tablespoons or more of peanut butter
15 prunes, sliced
  • Spread a thick layer of peanut butter on the tortillas, leaving about a 1/4 inch gap around the edges.
  • Add a layer of prunes atop the peanut butter and push them into the peanut butter.
  • Roll the tortillas up, burrito style. Cut off the ends and cut each roll into four equal pieces.
