Smoothie sailing

I have recently re-discovered the wonderfulness that is a smoothie.
So retro yet so current, I won over the youngest daughter - who is beginning to understand the advantages of good eating - with a sip of a strawberry smoothie.
I think we'll move on rather quickly to a more varied snack menu, but if you're wanting to try a smoothie for the first time, this is the one that did the trick for her.
(Personally, I'm more of a purist. I don't put water or ice in my smoothies, but they are way thicker and not as cold so it might not be as easy to convince someone to try for the first time.)
If you are having trouble getting someone, maybe yourself, to try a smoothie, dress up the drink with a little party umbrella. Daiquiri, anyone?
My favorite is a pineapple-mango smoothie. Just pineapple, mango and a blender. Blueberries, strawberries and kiwi are good together, but be prepared that it's a little tart.
You get the idea: pick your favorite fruits, put them together in a blender (with a bit of water and some ice, if you like) and you have a fast, healthy snack in no time.

Strawberry Smoothie

1 cup of strawberries
1/4 cup of water
4 ice cubes
1 tablespoon of honey
  • Add the water and strawberries to the blender first. Then pour in the honey and lastly add the ice cubers.
  • Blend on low and gradually move to high until everything is a red fruity liquid.
  • Then blend on high for another 30 seconds to aerate.
Vegan.
